This is a book cover illustration for Jennifer Peersmann's new book. I started with some thumbnailsketches, resulting in the asic laout sketch above. I inked the sketch . Then I experimented with some color concepts, and finally used the basic idea of the color sketch in the final illustration.

Libris inspiratiedag

Here's a picture taken on april 2nd at the Libris inspiratiedag. My illustration for Kathryn Littlewood's book : The Bliss bakery was used to decorate the room.

Book cover illustration for a book about a magic bakery. When the parents leave, the kids are left alone in the bakery with tha magic cookbook...They'll have fun, that's for sure!

The previous sketch for the Peter Pan book cover was rejected. I agree with the publishers comment that that design was too much about Captain Hook, and not as much about Peter Pan. These new concept sketches for the cover were approved. Let's paint!

A new edition of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan will be published by Ploegsma publishers. These are two sketches for the cover illustration...
I wish I had the time to do this one in oils, but I am afraid that will not be possible...

Mijn naam is Haas

These are some sketches and illustrations that I have been working on lately. The project is called: Mijn naam is Haas" and it will consist of children's books and educational computer games. Trailers and full story can be found here

My name is Haas is a charming multimedia concept for young children (age 3-7 years). Picture books introduce characters like Haas, a young Hare, and Sofie, a little duck, and their world. Within the educational games children experience adventures together with the characters. These games are available on CD-ROM as well as online (in the near future). More info at mijnnaamishaas.nl

The book 'Nooit meer nat!' and the game 'Lekkere lucht' just came out, and are in store now!
'Groen Genoeg and 'Vreemde vogels' will both be published later...

De Coole Cowboy

My new book is out!!! It is called 'De Coole Cowboy' and was written by Tjibbe Veldkamp. The story is about a little boy and a girl. The boy fantasises about being a cowboy. Then the girl disturbs his fantasy by making up castles and knights, that don't fit in a cowboy fantasy. The result is an exciting adventure in which the two constantly try to 'outfantasise' each other.

Recently I was asked to make illustrations for the Japanese version of'the Dutch bestseller: Crusade in Jeans.
These are the results.

This is a book that just came out.
The illustration is about the three most prominent writers of the Netherlands: Gerard Reve, Harry Mulisch and Willem Frederik Hermans, fighting over the prize for best writer, a golden Apple.
The illustration was done in gouache.
