"for some reason blogger darkens the images". I have stopped uploading my images for the same reason. From what I understand, this is due to the "auto-enhance" feature, which is set by default and can be disabled if you have a Google+ account, but it's hard/impossibile to disable if you don't have one. Try googling "blogger images auto-enhance" for details. Time to go somewhere else...
