Dang, dang, dang, dang, dang!!! Wouter, you rule man! Any specific palette that you stuck with on this, is this acrylic or oil? Awesome work brother, awesome!
As a matter of fact, in the jim carrey illustration I used both oils, acrylics, pencils ánd gouache. Don't ask why or how, I just grasped anything I could use in the process. As you can see I stuck with reds, ochres, puples and yellows in the background. In the portrait I actually used as much colors as possible, focussing mainly on their tonal values, so that shapes would come out well. In the end somehow a more or less flesh tone appeared.
A while ago I made a rough setup, and then messed it up by going over it with oils. I put the whole illustration away for a year, and when I recently dug up som old stuff for an upcoming exhibition, I found it quite a challenge to see if I could give it life again.
