Concept sketches for a stop motion animation, called 'De tand des tijds' by Patrick Raats. His development process can be found on his blog.
This is what happens when some colored pencils and an old magazine photo find themselves in my way...Doodling is fun!

The art director decides which one he thinks best fits the cover. some of the other thumbnails will turn into small illustrations to accompany the article.
Final illustration. You can see some choices were made after the sketch; for instance to use straight lines and pointy corners in the man's home, and curves and ornaments in the woman's home, to bring up the contrast between them.
