SMURF!
I have had the honor to cooperate on a TV-commercial for Albert Heijn. Hollands biggest supermarket. The commercial is about the smurfs that you can get for free when you do your shopping at AH. It was my job to design the Harry character, and to paint all of the Backgrounds. I had a lot of fun doing this job, and also I learned a lot about animation, since it was my first animation project. The storyboard was done by the great Daan Jippes and the movie was directed by Hans Buying.

Watercolor
This is a portrait of my girlfriend Nina. The hard thing about watercolor to me is that I easily do too much. Adding too many layers an too much detail can kill a painting. Watercolor means practising, practising, practising. I think the key lies in a global approach, adding only a few layers, and not going into detail too much. This one for me is another step towards understanding the medium.

More sketchbook drawings
This is the first time I am experimenting with brush and ink. Most of my illustrations are painted, so I never got to explore the possibilities of brush and ink. I love the medium and it gives me a lot of new ideas. The ink illustrations above are some exercises to get to know the medium.
