This is an oil painting I made last week, based on the watercolor sketch I posted earlier. I tried to keep my brushstrokes loose, and let them fall into place when you look at the painting from a distance. Further I managed to keep the piece colorful, accomplishing grey parts by placing different colors next to each other, so that even dark parts remain bright. I has a nice imprssionist feel, that I want to keep exploring.

Noor and her runaway parents
It was a challenge to use only black, white and grey, and create different layers with these elements.

Krukel #3

These are illustrations I did for the third part of the 'Krukel' books. ( published in English with the title: " Urchin of the riding stars" -with other cover illustrations -. The script has been sold to Miramax, so maybe there will be a film of the book) The illustrations are for the Dutch publication of the book.
I wanted to capture an adventurous atmosphere, of squirrels sneeking out in the dead of the night, and others exploring caves underground.
The third picture is an illustration for the back of the book, so text will be put over the clouds.
The last picture is just an idea of what the layout will be.
