This is a portrait I did a while ago for Algemeen Dagblad. It was a tribute to the man who led the Dutch soccer team to european victory in 1988. He died last year.

Arendsoog

I have the honour of doing new book covers for the "Arendsoog"-series. (Arendsoog = eagle eye) These books were published in the sixties and seventies in holland and are considered classics.
I wanted to give the books a traditional 'look', so I used some old-school painting effects. For example the red background, heavy outlines and leaving the shadows open. I also wanted it to look like a movie poster. So I used some collage effects, in the tradition of Drew Struzan ( www.drewstruzan.com )

This is a book cover I made for "De Kinderkaravaan". A Dutch classic by An Rutgers van der Loeff. It is a book about a group of children travelling through the United States after their parents died.

I had to do it in half an hour, so the gouache was still wet when I sent it...
