Arendsoog

I have the honour of doing new book covers for the "Arendsoog"-series. (Arendsoog = eagle eye) These books were published in the sixties and seventies in holland and are considered classics.
I wanted to give the books a traditional 'look', so I used some old-school painting effects. For example the red background, heavy outlines and leaving the shadows open. I also wanted it to look like a movie poster. So I used some collage effects, in the tradition of Drew Struzan ( www.drewstruzan.com )

This is a book cover I made for "De Kinderkaravaan". A Dutch classic by An Rutgers van der Loeff. It is a book about a group of children travelling through the United States after their parents died.

Another cool cowboy

I am still working on the Cool Cowboy. Here's another sketch. The main character is a boy that dreams of being a cowboy. While I am still working on the characters, I am also exploring different ways to capture that country and western feel'.

Book illustration

These are illustrations for a book that deals with teasing; How to act when you get teased. The upper illustration is a sketch for the cover of the book. Previous sketches were rejected, so I hope this one will be accepted.
