Life drawings

I can't stress enough the importance of life drawing... It makes you understand shapes, anatomy, gestures, it is good for your drawing skills, it's a place to experiment freely, and also it's a lot of fun!

Turnaround

After  seeing some Rapunzel tunaround sketches by Glen Keane, I was inspired to do a turaround exercise of a pose. It is really a good exercise to check if you understand volumes and shapes. The hardest part is to make sure the pose has the same intention and is just as strong from all angles. Finally I placed them in an animation, to check again how the volumes are balanced. I can see I am a bit off model here and there, so I guess I need to do this more often. It's a really good exercise that I can reccommend to anyone!

Recently I bumped into the great work of Niklas Andersen LINK
He allowed me to share some of his advice on the use of graphite powder on my tutorial blog LINK. This drawing is the result of some playtime with pencil and graphite powder.
